While pursuing an MBA, SWOT analysis becomes a part and parcel of your day. SWOT takes into account both internal and external analysis. The internal analysis comprises of strengths and weaknesses, while the latter comprises of opportunities and threats. A shrewd company should use its strength to mitigate the threats and channelize its weakness in a strategic manner to explore new opportunities.

Here are examples of two such Indian companies :

‘Unacademy’ has used this formula, by employing its strength (e-education), to use it as an opportunity, in order to alleviate the threats of coronavirus. Refer to the image attached.

On the other hand, ‘Yes Bank’ has used its own weakness as a sign of strength and is trying to tap into the opportunities again. Refer to the image attached.

These examples show us how SWOT can be used for the branding of a company. As of now, this seems to be an agile strategy, but only time will reveal its benefits.
